ABOUT ME
Thanks for stopping by…here’s a bit about me
I have been working in the field of design for over a decade, but my creative side goes back to when I was a kid outside Chicago – drawing & painting, designing batiks & linoleum block prints, cutting and sanding marble sculptures, and other not-ready-for-prime-time studio projects while in school. These artifacts are hidden far away in my mother’s house so you’ll have to trust me here.
I have an MBA and previously worked in the media industry, primarily in New York City. While there, I co-led a team that launched HBO’s first-ever streaming video service in partnership with Comcast Interactive Media. That project piqued my curiosity, leading me to enroll in a UX Design course at General Assembly. Since then, I've worked with some of the most talented design, engineering, and technology practitioners at renowned design & innovation firms such as Fjord (Accenture) and Continuum (EPAM). I enjoy creatively solving thorny business problems by applying human-centered design. I'm grateful to have collaborated with exceptional brands across various industries, including American Express, Southwest Airlines, Panera, Sekisui House, and the American Dental Association, among others.
Today, I’m sharing what I have picked up along my design journey by teaching Innovation Through Design at Boston College and User Experience Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Philosophically, design and business should be more tightly linked. Too often, a new product or service offering fails when these two disciplines aren’t well aligned or one gets too far ahead of the other. In my work, I seek to challenge that paradigm, focusing on not just what’s desirable but what’s viable.
During my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, collecting vintage vinyl records, and having fun dinners with my family. We renovated a historic home outside Boston in 2016 and share it with our chocolate lab, Charlie Brown.
